Colon Hydrotherapy Questions Answered
Questions people usually ask.
Everything you want to know before you book. If your question is not here, send a message and Steph will answer it personally.
About the session
No. Steph steps out before your session begins. You are completely alone in the room throughout your treatment. This is central to how the open system works and it is one of the main reasons people choose Glow.
Most people find it far more comfortable than they expected. You may feel some fullness or gentle movement as the water flows, but the process is slow, controlled and paced entirely by you. If anything feels wrong at any point, you are in control and can adjust.
Yes. Professional hygiene standards are non-negotiable at Glow and are managed carefully and discreetly before every session. The equipment is clean, the system is odour-free and the room is prepared fully before you arrive. You never need to think about it.
The treatment runs for approximately 45–60 minutes. You are always in control of how the session unfolds — if you feel complete before the full 60 minutes, we trust that completely.
Warm water flows gently into the colon in a slow, rhythmic way. You will feel a sense of fullness, then release. Most people describe it as surprisingly manageable and leave feeling much lighter than they anticipated.
Before your session
Avoid eating a heavy meal for two to three hours before your session. Stay well hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing. That is genuinely all you need to do. Steph will cover everything else when you arrive.
Yes, but keep it light. Avoid heavy meals, fatty foods or large amounts of liquid for two to three hours beforehand. A light snack a couple of hours before is fine.
Avoid alcohol the day before and the day of your session. If you are on any medication or have a known bowel condition, let Steph know when you book and she will advise whether colon hydrotherapy is appropriate for your situation.
After your session
You will receive clear aftercare guidance before you leave. Generally: stay hydrated, eat lightly for the rest of the day, avoid alcohol and vigorous exercise for 24 hours. Most people feel noticeably lighter and can return to normal activities straight away.
The good bacteria that line the wall of the colon are not removed by colon hydrotherapy. To support your microbiome further, Glow provides a probiotic as part of your post-session aftercare. Steph also works with naturopath Courtney who has developed herbal formulations to support clients before and after sessions.
Most people feel lighter, clearer and more energised. Many notice improved mental clarity within a few hours. Some people feel a little tired or tender, which is normal and passes quickly.

Yes. The Foundations Series of three sessions is the recommended starting point for most new clients. Six and ten session programs are also available for ongoing maintenance. See the Colon Hydrotherapy page for full pricing.
One session can absolutely help. But colon hydrotherapy works best as an ongoing support practice rather than a one-off. Most people notice a meaningful difference after the Foundations Series of three sessions and choose to continue with regular maintenance from there.
Is colon hydrotherapy right for me?
Colon hydrotherapy is suitable for most healthy adults dealing with digestive issues such as bloating, constipation, sluggishness or irregularity. It is also popular with people who simply want to support their digestive health as part of an ongoing wellness practice.
Colon hydrotherapy is not recommended during pregnancy, or for people with active colitis, Crohn's disease, severe haemorrhoids, recent bowel surgery or certain other bowel conditions. If you are unsure, speak with your GP before booking or send Steph a message and she will advise honestly.
Completely. Most people who come to Glow were nervous before their first session. Steph hears this regularly and it does not surprise her. Everything is explained clearly before anything begins and most people leave wondering what they were worried about.
